Cerium bromide is a white powder or polycrystalline block in appearance. It is easy to dissolve in water and acid, and it easily absorbs moisture. Therefore, it needs to be kept in an airtight condition. Cerium bromide can be used in a scintillation counter.

Cerium bromide can be used to prepare scintillation crystals. Cerium-doped La bromide (LaBr3: Ce3 +) and cerium bromide (CeBr3) crystals are new scintillators with excellent properties.
