Neodymium (III) Fluoride

Neodymium (III) Fluoride, also known as Neodymium Trifluoride, is a crystalline ionic compound. It is commonly used to make Nd – Mg alloys, glass, crystal and capacitors, magnetic materials.

Neodymium Fluoride is mainly used for glass, crystal, and capacitors and is the main raw material for making Neodymium Metal and alloys. Neodymium has a strong absorption band centered at 580 nm, which is very close to the human eye’s maximum sensitivity level, making it useful in protective lenses for welding goggles. It is also used in CRT displays to enhance the contrast between reds and greens. It is highly valued in glass manufacturing for its attractive purple coloring to glass.

Neodymium Fluoride Applications

Neodymium fluoride can be used to produce metal neodymium, magnesium alloy additive for the aviation industry, deep ultraviolet material, laser crystal material, scintillator material, etc. The details are as follows:

1. Scintillator for preparing the detector.
2. It is used in rare earth crystal laser material and rare earth fluoride glass optical fiber.
3. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as an additive of aviation magnesium alloy and metal electrolytic production.
4. It is used for manufacturing carbon electrode of the arc lamp in the lighting source.
5. It is used to prepare metal neodymium and neodymium iron boron alloy.
